Northwich War Memorial Refurbishment

Northwich War Memorial has sat on Church Road for almost 100 years after being erected in 1925 by General Sir Ian Hamilton. However, since then the road layout has changed pushing the War Memorial back away from the road

We at Northwich Town Council felt that with the 100 year anniversary of the Great War  around the corner we needed to bring the War Memorial back to its former glory and thanks to a grant of £46,700 awarded from the Heritage Lottery Fund this will be possible.

Along with the planned physical improvements, including cleaning and repointing the Cenotaph, resetting the marble plaques into new railings and repairing the damaged copings, it is our aim to involve the local community in projects alongside the refurbishment and hopefully bring the memory of those it represents to life.
