Are looking for stories for
In This Place, Upon This Earth
A Dance Opera about Northwich,
its history, the town and especially its people!
We’re searching for stories about Northwich, stories that are about anything really but we are especially interested in unusual tales, fables, myths, and the folklore of the area… and we’d love to hear from YOU. The stories can be historical, comical, personal, or tragic, even stories about ghosts, witches, UFO sightings or anything strange are welcome!
The stories will be used as the basis of a brand new operatic work by Company Carpi to be performed at Northwich Plaza for the fabulous Now Northwich festival on Saturday 27th April 2024.
Company Carpi will create a live dance opera based on your stories, approx 30 minutes in length, with music specially created for the occasion by composer Gary Lloyd and dance created by choreographer Bettina Carpi, all brought to vivid life on the day by local orchestral musicians and professional opera singers, and dancers drawn from the local community joined by dance professionals from the region.
To offer your tale there are a few options:
You can submit your story in an email, or you can send a recording (audio or video) of yourself reading or explaining the story, or you can email, text or call and arrange a chat to tell your tale.
Not every story will be included in full, that’d be impossible, however five stories will be included in full and many, many of the other stories will be referred to in a special composition built of one-liners.
