On Sunday 18th September Northwich Town Council will be holding a vigil and minutes silence for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The vigil will take place at Memorial Court and start at approximately 7.45 pm leading to the minutes silence at 8.00 pm which will be observed throughout the country.
This will be a time of reflection and to remember Queen Elizabeth in your own way.
Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire Eric Hodgson, Mike Amesbury MP and David Drinkwater from ST Helens Church will all take part in the short vigil.
Deputy Town Mayor Cllr Jane Thomas will lead the vigil and said “I am honoured to take part in this vigil and to remember Queen Elizabeth II, this will be a very sad but special occasion and I hope as many people as possible will come and share this moment in our history”
Before the vigil members of the public will still have the opportunity to sign the book of condolence in Memorial Court and also lay flowers within the flower carpet.
The book of condolence will officially close on Tuesday 20th September at 5.00 pm after this the books will be bound and kept in the borough’s archive.
Flowers will remain until Friday 23rd September before they will be collected, mulched and spread around trees in the borough which form the Queens Green Canopy.
