Cllr Jane Thomas is beyond excited for the opportunity to serve as Northwich’s Town Mayor for the next twelve months, following her recent election at our AGM on May 15th. She looks forward to representing this fantastic town and all its residents to the best of her abilities.
Here is what Our Mayor Cllr Jane Thomas has to say…
I have been a member of the Northwich Town Council since 2019. I am proud of the exceptional work and the engagement that the Town Council has with the residents and local groups. I am excited about the opportunities this role presents to serve both the Council and our wonderful community.
I was privileged to be elected as Deputy Mayor last year, and this year, as the Mayor, I intend to do all that I can to further develop the activities and events which enhance the prestige of Northwich, as well as advocate for the well-being and progress of our town.
As a Special Educational Needs Teacher in a local school (deemed Outstanding by OFSTED), I am particularly keen for youngsters to have opportunities, as well as safe and suitable activities and provisions to enjoy.
I also support any initiatives in our town which assist the more vulnerable.
My daughter, Beth, has attended several schools in the area. She will be completing her GCSE’s and starting her A’ levels this year. I am delighted that she will be my consort this year.
In addition, I am extremely pleased to be supported by an excellent Deputy Mayor, Cllr Kate Chernik. Kate is a passionate advocate of the town and amongst her many interests chairing the initiative to make Northwich a Dementia Friendly Town.
I believe that through the cooperation that we enjoy as a council; by utilizing our collective strengths and expertise, working closely with each other and with our incredible town council staff, we will make a meaningful difference to our Town and our residents.
Cllr Jane Thomas
Mayor of Northwich
