Northwich Town Council is thrilled to announce that the construction of the long-awaited skatepark at Vickersway Park will commence on Monday, 26th June 2023. After working closely with partners to secure funding for the project over the past 18 months, we are excited to begin this endeavour and witness the community enjoying this state-of-the-art facility for many years to come.
We would like to extend a massive thank you to all our generous funders who made this project possible. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to FCC Communities Foundation, Rudheath & Witton Together, Cheshire West & Chester Council, and Northwich Town Council for their invaluable contributions.
The construction of the skatepark will be entrusted to Wheelscape, an experienced skatepark construction company. Based on our estimates, the build is anticipated to take approximately 9 to 10 weeks, ensuring a swift and efficient process.
Expressing her enthusiasm for this development, Northwich Town Mayor, Cllr Jane Thomas, remarked, “The commencement of the skatepark construction is a monumental moment for our community. This facility will provide a safe and engaging environment for our young people to develop their skateboarding skills and promote an active lifestyle. I cannot wait to witness the joy it will bring to our town.”
Heiddi Bibby from Rudheath & Witton shared her excitement, stating, “We are delighted to see the Northwich Skatepark project come to fruition. This initiative will undoubtedly enhance our community’s recreational opportunities and foster a sense of unity among residents. We are proud to be part of this collaboration.”
Shaun Bowers from the Northwich Skate group expressed his anticipation, saying, “This skatepark has been a dream for our skateboarding community. We are grateful to all the funders and supporters who made it possible. We look forward to hitting the ramps and showcasing our skills in this fantastic facility.”
