Northwich Schools Help Brighten Town Centre with Seasonal Planting

Fifteen Northwich schools came together on Thursday 22 October to help plant the town centre flower beds, continuing Northwich Town Council’s commitment to making Northwich a colourful, welcoming and wildlife-friendly town.

Following the successful planting in April, which introduced butterfly-friendly plants as part of Northwich’s ambition to become a butterfly-friendly town, the latest initiative saw children from across the town working together to enhance the appearance of Northwich town centre.

The planting was organised in collaboration with the Northwich Education Partnership (NEP) and Northwich Town Council, giving pupils the opportunity to get involved in their local community, learn about the importance of caring for their environment and play an active role in improving the town centre.

Jo Price, Headteacher at Weaverham Primary Academy, said:

“It was wonderful to see the children from NEP, in collaboration with Northwich Town Council, planting the flower beds in Northwich on Thursday. The weather couldn’t have been better, and the children thoroughly enjoyed getting involved. Their enthusiasm helped create a fantastic community spirit for everyone to enjoy. Next time you’re in Northwich, please take a look.”

Cllr Catriona Stewart, who also took part in the planting, praised the initiative and the children’s efforts.

She said:

“What a fantastic initiative this is. It was wonderful to see so many children getting involved, taking pride in their town and helping to make Northwich a more colourful and welcoming place. The children did a wonderful job, and it was great to see their enthusiasm and the community spirit they brought to the day.”

Northwich Town Council is proud to be working alongside local schools and the wider community to make Northwich a greener, more colourful and welcoming town. The initiative gives children the opportunity to make a positive contribution to their local environment, take pride in their surroundings and play an active role in shaping the future of their town.

With fifteen schools already playing their part, the message is clear: small actions can make a big difference when a community works together. Northwich Town Council hopes this initiative will continue to grow, bringing colour and life to the town centre while strengthening the community spirit that makes Northwich such a special place to live, work and visit.

The Council would like to thank all fifteen schools, the Northwich Education Partnership and everyone who helped make the planting possible.

Next time you visit Northwich town centre, take a moment to admire the flower beds and see how the children’s hard work is helping to make the town a brighter and more welcoming place for everyone to enjoy.
